2014 USASA SBX Race Update #2

Snow, snow, snow and more snow.  That was the theme of last weekend’s RockyMountain Series SBX Races at Copper Mountain.  In fact it seems like it’s been snowing in Summit County since the beginning of January.  RMS did a great job keeping the course in solid shape for racing both days and other than super-low visibility, the conditions were pretty good.
Powder-Cross?
This time around the Copper Course was longer and had several more banked turns and features as well as a totally new start section.

Looking up From Behind the 2nd Wu
The latter required a strong pull out of the gate to gap-to a steep wall with a halfpipe-like transition into the first Wu-tang.  When you timed it right the start section had a nice rhythm and feel to it.

Vast (vastaction.com) provided some great pictures of the competition through the start section.  All pictures and video are from Race Day #3.

Landing Gear Down
I once again scored gate selection by being fastest in Time Trials on both days and ended up winning Gold in each race too.

So far this winter I’ve gone 4 for 4 in SBX action at Copper Mountain.

Next up is USASA Nationals in the first week of April.  There’s still a lot of work to do in the gym and on the slopes to be in peak condition for the last event of the year so time to get back at it.
